Antti Buri and his team have acquired an ex-Comtec car, now called Mtec. The car is currently being prepared for tests in the UK.

The team will be heading for first tests early March, as the UK Formula Ford season begins with their testing. The car is still missing the Duratec engine and parts of the data collection system, but these are expectedt to arrive in the next days so that the car can be completed this week.
The Comtec factory cars showed promising speed last year in the early part of the season, but their progress was halted by the banktruptcy of Comtec. The cars and manufacturing tools have since been acquired by Mäkelä Racing, who will continue making the car under the Mtec brand.
Based on an early analysis of the car it looks very similar to Van Diemen, although there are also some novel features in the design. Let's see if Antti and the Buri team will be able to convert their unique entry in the UK Formula Ford Championships to some good results! Clearly the team is taking a risk with the car, but this may be a risk worth taking as going with the other brands (like Mygale, Van Diemen or even Spectrum) would have automatically placed them in second order after the primary factory backed teams.
