A national race is organized next weekend at Botniaring, Jurva. Rumor has it a lot of our formula drivers are heading there for some early season practice. In July official test days will attract formulas to the track too...
The race is scheduled for Saturday, and includes warm-up, time trials, and two races for all classes. Both car and formula classes will be present. Friday is practice day.Several of the formula drivers are rumored to travel to Jurva for some intense racing. This concept of national one day races (with one day of practice prior) seems to be getting popularity, not only due to a very compact time schedule, but also as it offers a low cost alternative to gain racing experience. Registration end May 4, but as for formulas at least Formula Fords are well represented. Most likely F3s and Formula Renault 2.0s will also be there.
Rumors have it that the Söderman team (at least partially), Mäkelä Racing, Hirsimäki, and even Buri might be present for the Formula Ford class. Most likely we thus will see a very interesting mix of Duratecs (M-tec), Zetecs with ethanol, and regular Zetecs on the track!
Some other interesting events outside the Rata-SM schedule that take place at Botniaring are the Formula Renault 2.0 Finland organized official test days. Other formula classes have also been invited, and these days should provide some very interesting insight into how the different teams are performing. The first two-day event was already held (28-29.4.), and the next event is scheduled for 15-16.7.
