Antti Buri made good progress forward at Snetterton, where rounds 10-11-12 of the British Formula Ford Championships took place last weekend.
The Mtec (ex-Comtec) driver finished 12, 18 and got a DNF in the last race. His starting position in the grid for the races was 23, 21, and 17.
"We had a tough time on Friday, and really did not get the car into any shape during official testing" Antti reported from the UK. "This meant we had to continue seeking our setup in Qualifying, and thus our results suffered badly. However, in the first race I felt I did quite well, given I got from 23 up to 12th position. In the second race I had some problems with the gear lever, which cost me a few positions. Nevertheless I finished 18th, having started 21. Up until the gear lever issues, I felt the race was going very well. The last race I spun but got back on track. Unfortunately someone hit me quite forcefully, bending my anti-roll bar and causing other damage as well. A DNF was thus the only thing achieved there."
The main gain from the weekend was, however, that the team learned a lot about the car and its setup. Now the suspension is starting to work like it should, and the car is performing better. This was evident also from Antti's lap times. Having been about 1.5s behind the leading cars in qualifying, the gap reduced to 1.1 and then 0.5...0.6s as the races progressed.
The team continues to push and prepare, and thus we can expect some further improvement as the season advances. So stay tuned for more results!
