Latest rumor has it that Ville Kivinen has been testing in the UK this week. Looking at the British Formula Ford entrants list for 2010 seems to explain this - both Ville and Jesse Anttila are listed to drive under Fluid with the Van Diemen LA09s they procured last year. It will be interesting to see how Ville manages in the UK series and in a Duratec car.
In the Finnish Championships last year, driving a Zetec, he certainly showed speed at times, but was also quite fluctuating in form. Ville's Formula Ford Festival was not what was expected, but this may partly be explained by him driving a Duratec then for the first time. However, it will hardly be an easy season, the Duratec is unforgiving to any extra weight, and the UK series is very quite intensive compared to racing in Finland. Tracks are quite different too, with some being quite fast...
While Ville has already been testing, Antti Buri was today heading out to Knockhill with his team for a few days of testing. Antti, running a refurbished Mygale SJ08 under Enigma Motorsports' flag (Enigma and Antti's own LMS Racing are collaborating this season), showed good speed last year in some races and should definitely be a guy to watch as the UK series progresses.
So, all in all, looks like there will be some serious UK action again for Finnish drivers. Sure enough, it has been long overdue. Let's hope they do well, and live up to the legacy left after Valle Mäkelä...
