Seems the Finnish Formula Ford class is in good shape - so far thirteen drivers have enrolled into the series for 2010. Given that four Finnish drivers are driving in the UK series as well (three of them will make a try in the Finnish Championships concurrently) things look really up! And in case a few more drivers find their way into the class, we are in really good shape (thinking of Milton Lundström from Sweden, and potentially Oskari Kurki-Suonio, although his sights may be set for the UK series...).
Now the information about the contestants is not completely clear now. Some drivers are enrolled via KITI, and these are the ones that we can expect to race the full Finnish Championships. However, some of the KITI enrolled drivers are not listed in the Formula Ford Finland site so this causes a bit of confusion. Then, some drivers are very unspecific about their cars, or have listed conflicting information in KITI and the FFF site. Anyways, here is what we can gather as of now:
The Duratec class has at least six drivers: Antti Buri (also doing UK), Ville Kivinen (also doing UK), Sebastian Nummi (also doing UK), Miikka Mäkelä, Milla Mäkelä and Elmeri Ylitalo. Van Diemen cars well represented (Kivinen, Nummi, Ylitalo), Buri going Mygale, and the Mäkeläs of course with their home-Mtec cars. Tommi Leinonen has listed his car as an LA09 at the FFF site, but Vector at the KITI site, so for now we probably should assume he is in the Zetec class. Then we have Jesse Anttila doing UK only, and Oskari Kurki-Suonio as "missing in action" for now (or maybe it is just me not being aware of his status...). Milton Lundström might attend some of the races, let's hope for that!
The Zetec class has seven (or six) drivers. Most seem to be Van Diemen cars, Leinonen being the exception (Vector?) and potentially also Henri Höglund (no manufacturer listed). Drivers are Kristian Laine (driving ex-Kivinen RF02), Atte Lehtonen, Tommi Leinonen, Markus Ollilla (ex-Hirsimäki RF00), Henri Höglund, Pinja Forsman and Per Stenius.
All in all an interesting season; new Dunlop tires, Duratecs finally officially in the class running for the title, ethanol as an alternative fuel in Zetecs, and plenty of drivers! Looking forward to the season opening at Kemora 14-15.5.2010!
