Antti Buri just called from Knockhill, where the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championships' rounds 4, 5 and 6 are taking place this weekend. Race results are are usual available from TSL Timing.
Antti reported that in qualification he did not quite make top 5, but got the grid positions 7, 5, 5 for the races. Jesse Anttila (Fluid/Van Diemen) was somewhere around 12, and Milton Lundström, racing this weekend for Kevin Mills (Spectrum) managed to reach 19th despite a big event earlier in tests. Apparently Milton's car rolled over in one of the chicanes, making it an expensive weekend for the newcomer. However, it is great to see Milton managed to get back and into qualification.
Antti had no specific reasons for his performance, the team just needs to push harder and find all the performance they can from the car.
Looking at TSL's online timing, round 4 has just finished and the top 3 were Hill, Malvern, and Cammish. Buri holds a strong 4th position right before Cook and Lind, Anttila finished 9th, and Lundström 17th.
Antti reported from Knockhill: "The start was uphill, so we all got off slow. My grid position was probably among the worst - glad that tomorrow it should be easier! The first step up in the roster I got from one of the cars in front having a gearbox failure. That brought the safety car, and the field was packed up.After a while I managed to pass Lind and his Fluid Van Diemen. After that Cook, Lind and myself were fighting and the guys ahead got away. I managed to distance myself a bit from Cook and Lind, who continued to fight together, and from there it was easy going to the finish line."
Let's see how Antti and the guys do tomorrow, for rounds 5 and 6! Stay tuned...
