First tests completed. Alastaro was open for testing on Sunday 19.4., and the day saw 5 Formula Fords on the track despite the chilly 0...7degC weather.
The sun was shining though, and during the day the track temperature reached up to 19degC. The best times among the FF squad were around 1.18 during the mid-day, to drop a bit back again in the afternoon. Among the cars was also one (Knuutinen) running RE85 (ethanol), and the car ran fine once it got started. Initial starting required some gasoline in the intake however, as the weather was too cold to get ethanol evaporation going. Unfortunately Knuutinen suffered a short circuit in his car, burning up the loom. Fortunately the fire died out quickly as mains were disconnected.
Our team was running the RF-02 for the first time, and the car was in good balance. Kaurala had done some good work as usual, and the car ran perfectly. We were still getting used to the car, so pace was not the main target for this day, rather getting the routines in place. The day saw our times come down from initial (safe) snail pace 1.28's to still slow 1.23's by the evening. We have 4-5sec's to take off, but with the car in good shape and initial setup good this presents an addressable problem.
Next testing with FF's on the track most likely 1.5. at Alastaro.
