Four Finns at Oulton Park (UK FF)

The Formula Ford season is kicking off with the British Formula Ford Championships round 1 at Oulton Park. Race information is now out, and shows four Finns racing. Fluid Motorsport has entered Jesse Anttila, Enigma Motorsport runs Antti Buri, and Team Söderman has taken Sebastian Nummi and Ville Kivinen to the race. It will be very interesting to see how these guys fare. Too bad Oskari Kurki-Suonio and Janne Knuutinen are not participating, it would have been great to see all our top FF drivers in the tough UK series.

Attached the participant list and the timetable for the event, that takes place over Easter. Good luck all!

Buri and Kivinen in the UK

Latest rumor has it that Ville Kivinen has been testing in the UK this week. Looking at the British Formula Ford entrants list for 2010 seems to explain this - both Ville and Jesse Anttila are listed to drive under Fluid with the Van Diemen LA09s they procured last year. It will be interesting to see how Ville manages in the UK series and in a Duratec car.

Buri does UK - and Finland - with a vengeance

Antti Buri is off for another full season of Formula Ford racing. The formal announcement came out yesterday, where Enigma Motorsport and LMS Racing formally stated their continued collaboration for the 2010 season. Last week the team completed a successful roll-out at Snetterton, and this week Antti and mechanic Aleksi Koskinen are again off to the UK.

While we are waiting for the Finnish winter to end, people further south are already heading out to their tracks. Also Finnish teams like Buri and Mäkelä are heading out, Buri to the UK and Mäkelä apparently to Zandvoort.

ATL fuel cell after a season of ethanol

Last season the Finnish Championships in Formula Fords was run with RE85 fuel by St1. This is bioethanol, 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. The cars used ATL fuel cells, and there was some concerns ethanol might cause some damage to the fuel cells. ATL does offer fuel cells with a treatment that makes them durable even when used with ethanol, but apparently only Janne Knuutinen had one of these cells.
