s2i Motorsport has acquired a Van Diemen RF-02 Formula Ford car from Seppo Virtanen.

 

The car is ex-Mikko Virtanen and ex-Tommi Anttila, Finnish Formula Ford Championship winner 2005. Originally the car was procured from UK by Reima Söderman. The car was completely rebuilt prior to the 2008 season, and is in perfect condition. Engine has been rebuilt, frame checked, soldered and painted, and most parts are new. Suspension is Eibach, and the car has several ingenious features developed by Olli Kaurala, who took care of the rebuild and also has been the car's main mechanic.

One of the interesting features is a "wire reverse gear", meaning the reverse gear is engaged by a separate lever. As such the gear does not rotate when its disengaged, meaning slight power conservation. The car is also equipped with a PI dash and datalogger, although we plan to exchange these for a Race Technology GPS system. 

Our team was pleased to obtain this quite unique car in such great condition. The car has a great history and we look forward to continue keeping it in mint condition.
