The sun is shining outside, and meanwhile our car is getting ready for the season...
The Van Diemen RF02 provides plenty of space even for a tall guy to sit in. With the help of Olli Kaurala we started setting up the cockpit by locating the pedals and steering wheel properly, and then molding the seat.
Hot work, for sure, both for driver and seat maker! The seat was made in two parts, and in multiple iterations. Unfortunately there was some problems with the material so we could not finish the job completely, but so far so good. The bottom part is now finished, and only part of the back remains.
Despite me being 190cm tall, there seemed to be plenty of space inside the car, and we found a good position. As usual, the tightest part was to find a good position for the arms but with the easy adjustment of the steering wheel this too was worked out. This must be the most spacious single seater I ever been in...
Work continues next week, with the remainder of the seat, making a base setup, and then going over the car with the team.
